Heather Morris Asks to Join Search Efforts to Find Naya Rivera

As the search continues to find Naya Rivera, her former Glee costar Heather Morris has asked to join the recovery efforts.

On Saturday, July 11, the Ventura County Sheriff Department tweeted that the day’s search was winding down and would resume the following morning. Heather, who portrayed Brittany Pierce on the Fox series, responded to the Sheriff’s office, writing: “My name is Heather Morris, I’m Naya’s close friend and co-worker, and I’m trying to conduct an on foot search and rescue mission along with a small group of friends at Lake Piru.” She went on to say that while she understands police officials are doing everything in their power, Naya’s friends are feeling helpless and want to help in any way possible. “I have left a message with the department of Rescue and Air today, and I will call again tomorrow,” she continued in a subsequent tweet. “Thank you.”

Naya was first reported missing early on Thursday, July 9 after she had rented a boat on Lake Piru with her 4-year-old son the day prior. Later in the day on Thursday, police officials announced that the 33-year-old was presumed dead, but a recovery mission would continue in the vicinity. “The goal is still to bring Miss Rivera home to her family,” said Deputy Chris Dyer in a press conference Thursday afternoon, per CNN.

Heather is one of many celebrities that has taken to social media to express hope for Naya’s safe return. In addition to her request to assist the search efforts, Heather tweeted her appreciation for the officials who have been looking for her former costar, along with an Instagram video captioned #BringNayaHome.
