Hawks continue miraculous rise in Game 7 to reach conference finals


PHILADELPHIA — There is no better embodiment to explain the improbably fast turnaround for the Hawks from Eastern Conference bottom feeder to being four wins from the NBA Finals than Kevin Huerter.

As a crowd of reporters hovered around Trae Young inside the visitor’s locker room in Milwaukee during the end of both of their rookie seasons in 2019, Huerter sat there alone. We talked that day about his NBA journey and how he went from playing in garbage time on opening night in front of 50 of his friends and family members in Madison Square Garden to being in contention for an All-Rookie team. It was a leap not even Huerter could predict.
