Halsey Revealed Her Pregnancy and Fans Are Feeling the Rapture

Halsey announced her pregnancy today, with a series of Instagram photos she captioned “surprise!” followed by a few apt emoji, including a rainbow and a baby bottle.

The news was met with an immediate outpouring of congratulations for the 26-year-old openly bisexual singer. Excited messages from famous friends, including Perrie Edwards, Ruby Rose, and Emily Ratajkowski, piled into the comments.

The “Without Me” singer tagged screenwriter Alev Aydin in the post, who commented, “Heart so full, I love you, sweetness.” Halsey replied to him, “I love you!!!!! And I love this mini human already!”

Fans may recall that back in December Halsey tweeted that she was “keeping 5 secrets.” It’s safe to assume that expecting her first child was one of them, though there are obviously more to come. Amid all the joy for the mom-to-be, new music was still on some people’s minds.

Halsey followed up her announcement on Twitter writing, “my rainbow,” which some fans are pointing out can refer to a successful pregnancy following a miscarriage.

“I’ve been really open about my struggles with reproductive health, about wanting to freeze my eggs and having endometriosis and things like that,” the singer wrote in the notes of her 2020 album Maniac. “For a long time, I didn’t think that having a family was something I was going to be able to do, and it’s very, very important to me.” Halsey previously revealed that she has experienced three miscarriages.

The singer has been open about her sexuality since the release of her first album BADLANDS in 2015. She has also been honest about her struggles to feel understood and accepted for who she is. “I’m a young bisexual woman, and I’ve spent a large part of my life trying to validate myself — to my friends, to my family, to myself — trying to prove that who I love and how I feel is not a phase,” Halsey said while accepting the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Music Artist in 2019. “It’s not part of some confusion that’s going to change or could be manipulated.”
