Halo Top makes first foray into fruit-based frozen desserts

LE MARS, IOWA — Halo Top is expanding its portfolio of better-for-you frozen desserts with the debut of Fruit Pops, the brand’s first fruit-based offering.

Made with fruit and fruit juice, Halo Top Fruit Pops contain 50% to 65% less sugar than other frozen fruit bars, according to the company. The pops come in five flavors, including strawberry, coconut, lime, mango and pineapple.

The strawberry flavor features strawberries, strawberry puree, strawberry juice and lemon juice. The treat is sweetened with stevia and is colored with beet and annatto extract. Each pop contains 40 calories and 6 grams of sugar.

The coconut pop contains coconut cream, skim milk, dehydrated coconut and stevia. Each pop contains 90 calories and 9 grams of sugar.

The mango variety is made with mango puree, mango juice, mangos, lemon juice and stevia. Colored with annatto extract, the mango pops contain 45 calories and 6 grams of sugar each.

The lime offering features lime juice, lime oil, lime pulp, lemon juice, sugared lemon zest and stevia. Each pop contains 35 calories and 5 grams of sugar.

The pineapple pop contains pineapple, pineapple juice and stevia, plus turmeric and annatto extract for color. Each pop contains 40 calories and 5 grams of sugar.

“At our core, Halo Top is here so fans can feel empowered to choose a treat that makes them feel good,” said Chelsea Parker, senior marketing manager for Halo Top, a subsidiary of Wells Enterprises, Inc. “We knew dessert lovers were craving more frozen fruit offerings without the sugar overload, and these convenient new Fruit Pops do just that, in all five juicy, delicious flavors.”

Halo Top Fruit Pops are available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $4.79 per box of six 2.5-oz pops.
