Gulfstream Scheduled Mandatory Payout Of Rainbow 6 For Saturday’s Card

Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 at Gulfstream Park is expected to generate an estimated pool of $5 million Saturday, when the $750,000 Curlin Florida Derby (G1) will highlight a spectacular 14-race program featuring 10 stakes, six graded, worth $1.825 million in purses.

First-race post time is set for 11:30 a.m.

The Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 21st racing day in a row Friday since being hit for a jackpot of $468,945 Feb. 27, leaving a carryover jackpot of $1,644,935.63 for Saturday’s program.

Multiple tickets with all six winners Friday were each worth $8,751.24.

There will also be guaranteed pools of $500,000 for the Late Pick 4 (Races 11-14) and $400,000 for the Late Pick 5 (Races 10-14).

Due to health and safety protocols, Gulfstream Park continues to race without spectators. The full Florida Derby Day program will be livestreamed at www.gulfstreampark.com with wagering available at www.xpressbet.com and www.1st.com/bet.

The 69th running of the Florida Derby will anchor the popular multi-race wager’s six-race sequence (Races 9-14), which will be kicked off by the $100,000 Sand Springs, followed by the $100,000 Orchid presented by Rood and Riddle (G3), the $200,000 Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2), the $200,000 Kitten’s Joy Pan American (G2), the $100,000 Appleton (G3) and the 1 1/8-mile Florida Derby.

Holy Bull (G3) winner Tiz the Law has been installed as the 6-5 morning-line favorite in Gulfstream’s signature race for Triple Crown hopeful, which also attracted Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth (G2) victor Ete Indien, who is rated second at 4-1.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.
