Gulfstream Rainbow 6 Jackpot At $961,780 For Friday’s Program

Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot closed in on the $1 million mark at Gulfstream Park Thursday, when the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 31st consecutive racing day.

The life-changing carryover jackpot will stand at $961,780.50 for Friday’s 2:15 p.m. Twilight program. Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $485.34 Thursday.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The Rainbow 6 was last solved July 6, when one lucky bettor hit for a $173,583.90 jackpot payoff.

Friday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9, featuring the return of Trophy Chaser, a highly promising 3-year-old colt, in Race 6, a seven-furlong sprint for 3-year-olds and up. Trained by Juan Avila, the 3-year-old son of Twirling Candy has been idle since finishing second by a neck to Mihos in the Jan. 5 Mucho Macho Man Stakes at Gulfstream.

Trophy Chaser, who set the pace in the mile Mucho Macho Man before falling a neck short of victory, broke his maiden last August by 15 ¾ lengths before finishing fifth in the Champagne (G1) at Belmont Park. He wrapped up his juvenile campaign by finishing second to Improbable in the Street Sense Stakes at Churchill Downs on the Breeders’ Cup undercard Nov. 2.

Trophy Chaser, who will be ridden by Emisael Jaramillo, figures to be heavily favored in a field of six that includes Baby I’m Perfect, Green Mansions, Fortunate Friends, Glory to Florida and Nunc Pro Tunc.
