Gulfstream Park Rainbow 6 Jackpot To Have $1.35 Million Guaranteed Pool Thursday

Live racing returns to Gulfstream Park with a nine-race program Thursday, May 28, featuring a jackpot pool guarantee of $1.350 million in the 20-cent Rainbow 6

First race post time is 12:45 p.m.

The popular multi-race wager has gone unsolved for the past 10 racing days since a mandatory payout of $31,476.56 May 9. Multiple tickets with all six winners on Monday’s special Memorial Day program each returned $26,219.08.

In the Rainbow 6, the carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Thursday’s Rainbow 6 sequence begins in Race 4. Race 5 is a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight for Florida-bred fillies and mares 3 and up that drew a field of 13 led by 2-1 program favorite Baseline Drive, a first-time starter by Point of Entry trained by Chad Brown.

The feature comes in Race 8, an entry-level optional claiming allowance where seven older females passed the entry box to sprint 6 ½ furlongs on the main track. Top choice at 2-1 on the morning line is 4-year-old stakes winner Midtown Rose, who has been in the money in 12 of 13 lifetime tries at Gulfstream, four of them wins. Also entered is her 6-year-old stablemate Archumybaby, a 12-time winner making her 39th career start and first since being moved to trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.

Race 2 on Thursday is a 4 ½-furlong maiden claiming event that attracted a field of 13 2-year-olds topped by narrow 5-2 program favorite Paladio, one of nine first-time starters. The Gone Astray colt is one of two from trainer Antonio Sano, along with Alternation colt Turpial, listed at 9-2.

Notes: Jockey Nik Juarez doubled Monday with Ocala ($5.80) in the opener and Cpt. Rhett Butler ($19.60) in Race 6. Emisael Jaramillo rode back to back winners on Notsosubtle ($3.60) in Race 3 and Gibberish ($12.20) in Race 4.
