Grizzlies, Steven Adams agree to 2-year, $25.2 million extension

Memphis Grizzlies and center Steven Adams have agreed to terms on a two-year, $25.2 million contract extension, the team announced Saturday. Adams’ new contract with the Grizzlies is for three years, $43.1 million.

Adams, 29, averaged 6.9 points and careers highs with 10 rebounds of 3.4 assists per game last season. He was originally drafted No. 12 in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he spent seven seasons before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans and eventually Memphis.

The 6-foot-11 New Zealander was an integral piece in the Grizzlies’ trip to the Eastern Conference semifinals. Memphis tips off its season at home on Oct.
