Grab a Spoon! Jeni's Debuts a Joe Biden-Inspired Ice Cream Flavor Called White House Chocolate Chip

If you’re looking for a sweet treat to help you celebrate the new POTUS, then we’ve got the perfect dessert for you. On Jan. 21, ice-cream maker and entrepreneur Jeni Britton Bauer — who’s the genius behind Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams — released a new flavor in honor of the 46th president of the United States, and you’re going to want to invest in a pint (or several). Made with crunch chocolate flakes and chocolate-covered waffle-cone pieces blended with vanilla ice cream, White House Chocolate Chip sounds like a dream, and the flavor was inspired by President Joe Biden himself.

Bauer and the future POTUS became friends back in January 2012 when he stopped by the Jeni’s flagship Columbus, OH, shop for something sweet. Sadly, the shop didn’t yet offer Biden’s favorite flavor — chocolate chip — so he ended up ordering a scoop of vanilla and dark chocolate on a waffle cone. Apparently, he enjoyed it, because Biden kept returning for more, and he and Bauer became friends. Biden even used her “performance enhancing” ice cream to help fuel him during the 2020 presidential debates, and Bauer figured that there was no better way to honor her friend than by finally fulfilling his request for chocolate chip.

According to Bauer, White House Chocolate Chip was “created in the spirit of unity” in a time of political division. “We are launching this flavor with a vision for building a brighter future in mind,” Bauer told POPSUGAR. “We must support the work of bringing America together and of building a future for us all. White House Chocolate Chip is a flavor perfectly positioned for meeting on common ground. It’s a play on Joe’s favorite flavor and, like Joe, easy to love. It is meant to be a token of appreciation for the moment. And, I hope, a beacon of light and love.”

White House Chocolate Chip is available to order online and in scoop shops nationwide. We approve this message!
