Gov. Cuomo announces Yankees and Mets to offer vaccination at games

New York baseball fans can now get their vaccine shot at the ballpark after Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s announcement on Wednesday.

As part of the effort to reduce COVID-19, vaccinations will be offered at both Mets and Yankees games. Free tickets will be given to those who take the shot.

“We will set up a facility as you are going in … you’re going to the game anyway,” Cuomo said. “Stop and get a vaccine.”

Cuomo also provided an update to seating capacity at the baseball stadiums. Starting May 19, fans attending games who have received vaccinations will have access to regular seating with masks as a requirement. Those who aren’t vaccinated will sit in sections with 33 percent capacity and social distancing of 6-feet.

“With this new opportunity for us, I think we will get more families to the ballpark, we’ll have more kids in the ballpark,” Mets president Sandy Alderson said.

This is a developing story. More to come.
