Gianluigi Donnarumma has insisted that he wants to stay at AC Milan as the young goalkeeper’s future continues to be shadowed in doubt as a host of top clubs circle.

The 21-year-old has been a top target for a number of European clubs since he burst onto the scene with Milan in 2015, however he has remained faithful to his boyhood club.

With the Italian’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2021, attention has turned to whether Donnarumma will sign an extended deal with Milan, or seek pastures new.

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are all said to have registered an interest in the youngster, with the latter club particularly keen on bringing in a new goalkeeper in the summer.

The Italy international has insisted, though, that his sole focus is on staying and helping Milan.

In an interview with the club’s official website, Donnarumma said: ‘The Rossoneri colours mean a lot to me, because I grew up here. I have always been a Milan fan and I can’t help but give my best for this shirt.

‘The first goal is the one I share with the club and the one we have set ourselves at the beginning of the season.

‘The personal goal is to always give my best and try to concede as few goals as possible.’

Donnarumma also revealed that Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo is the forward he most fears.

‘I have faced many great forwards, but I have always feared Ronaldo the most,’ he said.

Serie A, and all Italian football, has been postponed while the country continues its battle to contain the deadly coronavirus. The most recent figures show that 8,215 people have died from the disease in the country.
