IN THE RIVALRY SERIES…
Started during the 2018-19 season by USA Hockey and Hockey Canada, the Rivalry Series enters its fifth season (2018-19, 2019-20, 2022-23, 2023-24), with the U.S. holding an all-time record of 8-3-3-7 (W-OTW-OTL-L) and a record of 4-1-0-0 in series games played in November.
IN GAME ONE…
Through the history of the Rivalry Series, Team USA has won the first game of the series four times. In 2023-24, the U.S. won 3-1 in Tempe, Arizona. In 2022-23, the pulled out a 4-3 shootout victory in Kelowna, B.C. before a resounding 4-1 win in Hartford, Connecticut in 2019-20 and a 1-0 shutout in the first game of the 2018-19 series in London, Ontario.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The first three games of the 2024-25 Rivalry Series will take place over the course of five days, with game one in San Jose, California, game two in West Valley City, Utah and game three in Boise, Idaho. In total, teams will travel 1,114 miles via plane and bus to reach each location.
RETURN TO THE BAY
Team USA returns to the Bay Area for the first time since the Time is Now Tour, the pre-Olympic tour leading up to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, when the U.S. faced Canada on December 15, 2017, at the SAP Center. Alex Cavallini made 33 saves in net, while Brianna Decker tallied a goal, but the U.S. ultimately fell, 3-1.
CALIFORNIA DREAMING
Team USA returns to the state of California for the fourth all-time Rivalry Series game in the state. The U.S. holds a 1-1-1-0 record in the three previous games in the Golden State. Team USA played two games at Crypto.com Arena the last two seasons, winning 5-2 in game two of the 2023-24 series and dropping game five, 3-2 in overtime, of the 2022-23 series. In 2019-20, the U.S. won a 4-3 overtime thriller in Anaheim at the Honda Center.
