Fulham’s search for director of scouting put on hold

Fulham’s recruitment search for a director of scouting has been put on hold.

The Athletic reported in May that the club were looking to appoint someone to the new role as a replacement for former assistant director of football operations Javier Pereira. However, the club have now told the Fulham Supporters’ Trust that the recruitment process has been delayed for the forseeable future.

The Trust’s notes from their October meeting read: “Further to previous meetings discussions on the appointment of the Director of Scouting, the Trust asked for an update on when it was anticipated they would be in post.

“The club said that this is currently on hold and an update will be communicated if there are any developments.”

The director of scouting role was initially described as a full-time position responsible for the scouting side of recruitment, fulfilling Pereira’s former responsibilities. Recruitment is currently overseen by director of football operations and vice-chairman Tony Khan.

The role was not seen as part of a club restructure, but it was expected to be a senior position in addition to chief executive Alistair Mackintosh, director of football operations and vice-chairman Tony Khan and the head coach. It is thought that Fulham feel no urgency to fill the role, and there is confidence in the current structure.
