Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has backed Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to prove their doubters wrong following their rocky starts to life at Stamford Bridge.
The German duo have struggled for form in recent weeks before they both ended goal droughts in the Blues’ 4-0 win over Morecambe in the third round of the FA Cup.
Werner ended a run of 12 games without a goal in all competitions with his strike against Morecambe to give himself a much-need confidence boost while Havertz is starting to get back in his stride after recovering from the coronavirus earlier in the season.

The pair, who were signed for a combined £142million this summer, have both been in the firing line for their slow starts but Lampard believes they will come good over time – and has compared their starts to club great Eden Hazard.
Lampard told talkSPORT: ‘The people that question them should look at other top players that have come at a young age to this country.
‘Eden Hazard being a great example. He came here and became one of our greatest players ever.

‘It’s not an easy transition to this league. It’s a hard league and I think people that question them should give them time because they are great lads and we signed them for now and the future.
‘I understand the questions as it’s the world we live in. They will prove to be big players for the club.’
Hazard started slowly after moving to Chelsea from Lille in 2012 but went on to become a club legend, scoring 163 goals and providing 152 assists in 578 appearances.
The Belgian winger, who is regarded as one of the best Premier League players of all time, was sold to Real Madrid in 2019 in a £150m deal which eventually helped fund moves for Werner and Havertz.

Since his £53m move this summer, Werner has scored nine goals in 25 appearances but has often been played out on the wing to make room for Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.
Against Morecambe, he was given the chance to play centrally and repaid Lampard’s faith in him by scoring on Sunday.
Havertz set up his compatriot for his goal in the first half before rounding off the scoring himself with a strike five minutes from time to complete the comfortable win.
