De Bruyne out for weeks
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that the club will be without midfielder De Bruyne (£11.9m, 95pts) for their trip to West Brom.
The Belgium international limped off with a hamstring injury during City’s 2-0 win against Aston Villa last Wednesday.
After the match, Guardiola said: “The doctor said after reviewing the scan Kevin will be out for four to six weeks. It’s a big blow, but we have to move forward,”
“We’re going to miss him a lot,” Guardiola added “He’s almost irreplaceable with the quality he has. He was nominated the best player in the Premier League last season so we know how good he is.”
Vardy undergoes hernia surgery
Brendan Rodgers revealed that striker Vardy (£10.1m, 116pts) has undergone surgery to alleviate the discomfort he has felt in the region for much of this season.
“We’ve been managing him over these last number of months and he’s been fantastic, but we have a window now that allows him to have a minor operation on his hernia,” Rodgers said.
“He’s in recovery now. The earliest he can get onto the pitch is a week to 10 days.”
Marcus Rashford faces late fitness test
An injury worry for striker Rashford tainted another impressive performance from Manchester United against Liverpool on Sunday.
Speaking after the game, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Rashford will have a scan on his knee ahead of Sheffield United’s visit to Old Trafford on Wednesday.
“His knee was bothering him. Hopefully it’s not too bad and after the scan we’ll see where we are.”
The 23-year-old has established himself as a key figure in United’s side, with seven goals and five assists in the league this season.
Antonio boost for West Ham
The return of Antonio has been a welcome boost for David Moyes’s side.
The 30-year-old notched the winning goals for the club against both Burnley and West Ham last week after returning from a hamstring injury
Speaking ahead of their trip to Crystal Palace on Tuesday, Moyes said: “Having Michail back makes a huge difference for us.”
“I think he’s still a little way off his best, from when we came back after lockdown, and we have to get him back to that level but if he keeps getting us a goal a game we won’t be complaining, that’s for sure!
“Hopefully he can continue on his run, but I still see improvement in Mich from where he’s been and hopefully he can do that.”
