Flavien Prat won four races Saturday at Del Mar, doubling his previous win total and moving the 2018 summer season champion into third place in the rider standings. With eight wins from 27 mounts, Prat is two behind leader Drayden Van Dyke (10/37) and one behind Abel Cedillo (9/40).
Prat’s quadruple on Saturday consisted of: Challah (2nd, $8.20) and Del Mar May (4th, $4.40) for Richard Baltas, Miss Flawless (5th, $36.80) for Peter Eurton and Ancient Warrior (6th, $6.80) for Jerry Hollendorfer.
By giving Prat a leg up for two wins on Saturday, Baltas extended his lead in the trainer standings to 8-6 over Peter Miller. Baltas has one Del Mar title, the summer of 2017 shared with Phil D’Amato. Miller has won training championships in four of the five Bing Crosby seasons.
