Ford expands Shanghai design center

Ford established the Shanghai design studio in 2012, and the number of designers on site has increased tenfold in the past two years. More than three-quarters of the creative team are Chinese designers age 35 and below, Ford said.

By expanding the studio into a full-fledge design center, it aims to attract top local and global designers, Ford China noted.

Ford and its two joint ventures – one with Changan Automobile Co. and the other with Jiangling Motors Group – delivered 624,802 vehicles last year in China, an increase of 3.7 percent from 2020.

The tally includes 91,621 Lincoln vehicles, a jump of 48 percent from 2020.
