The Stockton Heat are no more.

After starting play in 2015-16, the Heat will move to Calgary next season, giving the Flames much closer access to its prospects.

The move was first reported by Tony Androckitis last week for Inside AHL Hockey.

The Heat did play the 2020-21 season in Calgary as part of the AHL’s all-Canadian division, so the move isn’t new to fans in the area. Having played in California since 2015, this will give the Flames the ability to get players to practice and play with the team in a much quicker fashion than when they were in California.
