Serbian winger Filip Kostic completes his £11m move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Juventus after snubbing £120k-a-week offer from West Ham

  • Filip Kostic has officially been announced as a Juventus player today
  • The 29-year-old joined Massimiliano Allegri’s team on a four-year deal
  • West Ham had reportedly made a significantly higher bid for the player

West Ham transfer target Filip Kostic has been officially announced as a Juventus player today, joining the Italian giants on a four-year deal from Frankfurt.

The news will come as a disappointment to Hammers boss David Moyes who lodged a bid reportedly worth up to £17million for the player last month.

According to a report from Tutto Mercato Web, Kostic was offered a bumper £120,000-a-week deal at the London Stadium, more than double what he is set to earn in Turin.

Frankfurt had accepted West Ham’s offer, but ultimately Kostic decided to instead agree personal terms with Juventus before a formal deal had even been agreed between the two teams.

The 29-year-old’s transfer sees him become the sixth player to join Massimiliano Allegri’s side this summer, as they look to reclaim the Serie A title after a disappointing fourth-placed finish last season.

Kostic played a leading role in Frankfurt’s improbable Europa League triumph earlier this year, playing 12 games across the campaign and assisting Rafael Santos Borre’s equalising goal in the final as the club fought back to defeat Rangers on penalties.

The midfielder has amassed 48 caps for his native country, and featured in all three games as Serbia were knocked out in the group stages of the 2018 World Cup.

Moyes will instead set his sights on other targets as the Hammers look to build on their impressive seventh-placed Premier League season.

Having already brought in the likes of  Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwell Cornet, Flynn Downes, and Nayef Aguerd, as well as making Alphonse Areola’s loan move from PSG permanent, Moyes will look to continue to add depth to his team as they prepare for a campaign both domestically and in Europe.

The Hammers were defeated in their opening Premier League game against defending champions Manchestser City, but will look to rebound away to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
