FIFA confirm dates for Club World Cup in UAE

FIFA have confirmed the Club World Cup will be played in the United Arab Emirates between February 3-12.

The nine-day tournament will mean two of Chelsea’s Premier League fixtures will be postponed.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were due to travel to Brighton on February 8 before hosting Arsenal on February 12.

The Champions League winners were set to play in the competition in December. It was originally planned to be hosted in Japan, although the country withdrew as hosts in September due to COVID-19 concerns.

The UAE has staged the Club World Cup four times before, with capital city Abu Dhabi assuming hosting duties in 2009, 2010, 2017 and 2018.

The draw will be made on Monday afternoon at 4pm GMT.

Chelsea can draw Al Hilal, Al Ahly, Monterrey, Auckland City or Al Jazira Club.
