Far-Right Pundit Candace Owens Refused Entry to Australia for Her Upcoming Speaking Tour

In an August 1 video shared to her social media accounts, Owens announced the tour by claiming that “Christianity is under attack,” and that “these events may start in America, but they travel all over the world.”

“This November, I am coming to Australia and New Zealand… for a speaking tour to discuss everything that they do not want us speaking about,” she said in the video, citing topics like “freedom of speech” and “why Christ really is king.”

“We’re going to go through everything that’s happened in America, and show how Australia and New Zealand can prepare to fight these forces before it’s too late,” Owens continued.

Yet as Burke pointed out in his own statement, many of Owens’ talking points are rooted in bigotry and misinformation. During the July 9 episode of her podcast Candace, she described the well-documented fact that Nazis performed gruesome medical experiments on concentration camp prisoners as “bizarre propaganda” and “a tremendous waste of time and supplies.”

Owens has also joined in American conservatives’ recent obsession with demonizing trans and gender nonconforming people at every possible opportunity. Back in September 2020, she described “the trans movement” as “actually satanic” during a segment of her former PragerU series, The Candace Owens Show. Shortly after the Uvalde school shooting in 2022, Owens baselessly claimed in a tweet that there were photos of the suspect “cross-dressing,” which she took as signs that he was “mentally disturbed” and “abused by adults in his life.”

At the time of writing, Owens hasn’t publicly responded to Burke’s statement on social media. But in the meantime, it’s a small comfort to know that, at least somewhere in the world, her misinformation isn’t tolerated so easily. Better luck next time!
