The Black Gold 5 jackpot, a .50 cent minimum wager where bettors are required to pick the winners of the final five races of the day at Fair Grounds Racecourse, has reached $176,714 heading into the nine race Sunday card. If you hold the only winning ticket, you take home the entire pot.
The sequence kicks off in race 5 with an estimated post time of 2:26 pm (CST).
Race 5 is a $46,000 allowance race going six furlongs and will feature the 2/1 morning line favorite Sincerity for trainer Danny Pish with Gabriel Saez aboard. The 3-year-old daughter of Mucho Macho Man exits a third place finish in the Louisiana Champions Day Lassie in early December.
Race 8, a Lousiana bred $40,000 maiden special weight race going five and one half furlongs on the turf drew a full field of nine. Gold Star Mama is listed as the 5/2 morning line favorite for Joe Sharp and jockey Gabriel Saez. Also in is Steve Asmussen’s Ameerah B who is listed at 4/1 on the morning line and will be ridden by Ricardo Santana Jr.
