Facial recognition technology has been used for some time for surveillance and security purposes, such as at the airport, but it is also increasingly prevalent in many other areas in Singapore, including the hospitality sector and at work.

Last week, Universal Studios Singapore introduced facial recognition gantries for its annual pass holders to gain entry to the theme park. While guests still need to bring along their physical cards, the facial scan works to quickly verify one’s identity.
