‘Everything Is On Track’ As Monomoy Girl Posts First Workout Of 2020

Champion Monomoy Girl posted her first workout of 2020 on Friday, breezing three-eighths at the Fair Grounds in 37 3/5 seconds. The 5-year-old Tapizar mare, who won the 2018 Kentucky Oaks and Breeders’ Cup Distaff, did not make the races last season after a bout with colic and a pulled hamstring.

This year, the mare entered early training in Florida with Paul Sharp Stables, and joined her trainer Brad Cox at the Fair Grounds in January. No specific target has been named for her 2020 debut.

“She’s doing really well,” bloodstock agent Liz Crow told The Blood-Horse. “Brad said she really went nice this morning and wasn’t asking her to do a lot, obviously, with her first three-eighths, but everything is on track.”
