Emma Raducanu offered stern advice from childhood hero Simona Halep

Raducanu had something of a false start to life after becoming a Grand Slam winner, losing her first competitive match since the US Open to fall at the first hurdle at the Indian Wells Masters.

And her first priority seems to be to hire a new coach, having dispensed of Andrew Richardson’s services just two weeks after winning at Flushing Meadows.

“I feel like at this stage in my career, and playing the top players in the world, I realised I really need someone right now that has had that WTA Tour experience at the high levels,” Raducanu said of her decision to part company with Richardson.

“I really need someone to guide me who’s already been through that.”
