There was a time not so long ago when conversations like this were the norm for us media types.
Only they were in person.
There were no Zoom press conferences. No COVID-19 restrictions that kept reporters away from the players and coaches whose lives and careers we chronicle on a daily basis. It was a simpler time, as they say, and one that I didn’t realize how much I missed until the phone rang on Wednesday afternoon with that familiar name on the screen.
