Dr. Praeger’s launches online tool aimed at boosting vegetable consumption

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. — Plant-based convenience foods company Dr. Praeger’s has produced a new online tool aimed at helping people check their eating habits against the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s recommendations.

Veggie Tracker, a free online service, enables consumers to keep track of their daily vegetable intake and provides resources that encourage the adoption of new eating habits.

“Most of us already know we should be eating more vegetables,” said Larry Praeger, chief executive officer of Dr. Praeger’s. “While more and more people are adopting plant-based diets, there’s still a long way to go toward reaching recommended consumption levels.”

The Veggie Tracker includes a searchable database that tracks and shares personal progress against the recommended goal of eating three cups of vegetables a day. The service provides motivations and incentives, including kitchen appliances and produce bags. In addition to tracking vegetable intake, the service includes a free e-book, daily reminders, access to a private Facebook group for advice from nutritionists and fellow users and a seven-day meal plan.

“Through the Veggie Tracker, our ultimate goal is to help people thrive,” Mr. Praeger said. “The biggest impact we can make is helping people fall in love with veggies and adopt eating habits that last a lifetime.”
