‘Ridley Road has an authentic sense of diversity, community and culture. This image coincides with my personal photography project, It’s My Hair, which focuses on the skills, time and effort taken to maintain Afro hair and the microaggressions/racism faced by people with Afro hair. Ridley Road market has a lot of hair salons and most tend to do hair outside on sunny days similar to what happens in African and Caribbean countries’ – Brunel Johnson, photographer.
