The charge of disorderly conduct against Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews has been dismissed.

According to the Toronto Star, a City of Scottsdale spokesperson said that the “matter was settled between the parties and the criminal matter was dismissed” on Nov. 13.

Matthews, 22, was facing the charge as the result of an off-season incident in Scottsdale, Ariz., in which the Maple Leafs center and a group of men allegedly attempted to enter the vehicle of  a female security guard at 2 a.m. on May 26. According to a police report obtained by The Hockey News, the security guard told police that the men appeared intoxicated, and when she asked why they would attempt to enter her vehicle, Matthews allegedly responded that the men “wanted to see what she would do” and “believed it would be funny to see how she would respond.”

The police report stated that when the security guard asked the men to leave, one of the men approached her and “tried to calm (her) down and also asked her not to tell management” of the condo building outside which the incident occurred. The report also alleged that as Matthews walked away, he pulled down his pants, bent over and “grabbed his butt cheeks.” Per the report, Matthews’ underwear remained on.

Addressing the media ahead of training camp, Matthews said he regretted if “any of my actions put a distraction on the team or distress on any individual.” He added that he takes “a lot of pride in preparing myself for the season and representing the Toronto Maple Leafs as well as I can.”
