Dion Waiters to meet with Lakers on March 2

The Los Angeles Lakers are still looking to bolster their roster for a championship run this season, and they have interest in Dion Waiters.

During Tuesday night’s Lakers-New Orleans Pelicans game in Los Angeles, Chris B. Haynes reported on TNT that the Lakers are set to meet with Waiters on March 2.

Waiters has some connections to the Lakers. Current Lakers executive Rob Pelinka was Waiters’ agent before deciding to run the franchise. Waiters was also a teammate of LeBron James in Cleveland for part of one season prior to his trade to Oklahoma City.

The 28-year-old guard began the season in Miami but was suspended by the Heat multiple times . He was sent to Memphis as part of the trade that brought Andre Iguodala to Miami. Waiters was waived by the Grizzlies and is now a free agent after going unclaimed.

If Waiters were to sign with the Lakers, he would probably be in the mix for minutes at the end of the bench with Troy Daniels.
