Devin Booker’s triple-double lifts Suns over Clippers in Game 1

Devin Booker notched his first career triple-double, and the Phoenix Suns pulled away to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 120-114 on Sunday in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals.

Booker finished with 40 points, including 29 after halftime and 18 in the third quarter, and added 13 rebounds and 11 assists. He sealed the win with a dunk, defensive rebound and two free throws in the final seconds, as the Suns survived a game that featured 20 lead changes, 13 ties and no leads of more than 10 points.

Paul George scored 34 points for the Clippers, who led by six late in the third quarter before Phoenix made a push.

Both teams were missing All-Stars while playing on an unfamiliar stage. Appearing in the conference finals for the first time since 2010, the Suns were without Chris Paul, who is in health and safety protocols. Kawhi Leonard was out with a knee injury for the Clippers, who are making their first conference finals appearance.
