Devin Booker just elevated into the next tier of stardom, and his Suns have arrived

Devin Booker was the fourth Kentucky player selected in the 2015 NBA Draft. Not the fourth overall player, the fourth player from his own college team. Karl-Anthony Towns went first, Willie Cauley-Stein sixth, Trey Lyles 12th.

Booker fell to 13th. Phoenix found him there. Cameron Payne, the Suns’ current backup point guard, went 14th to the Thunder. Frank Kaminsky, their current backup center, went ninth to the Hornets. Among the others taken ahead of Booker: Jahlil Okafor, Mario Hezonja, Emmanuel Mudiay, Justise Winslow.

Phoenix didn’t even make the playoffs the previous 10 seasons.
