Danmarks Ishockey Union
For the first time in 75 years, Denmark has unveiled the list of players that will compete at the upcoming Winter Olympics.
Denmark announced the 25-man roster that will head to Beijing in a few weeks’ time on Tuesday evening, marking the first time the nation has ever qualified to compete for gold in men’s hockey at an Olympic Games.

Forwards:
Nicklas Jensen, Jesper Jensen, Mikkel Boedker, Morten Poulsen, Frederik Storm, Mathias Bau Hansen, Nick Olesen, Nicolai Meyer, Matthias Asperup, Julien Jakobsen, Morten Madsen, Peter Regin, Frans Nielsen, Patrick Russell.
Defensemen:
Oliver Larsen, Jesper Jensen Aabo, Emil Kristensen, Oliver Lauridsen, Markus Lauridsen, Phillip Brugisser, Nicholas B. Jensen, Matias Lassen.
Goaltenders:
Patrick Galbraith, Frederik Dichow, Sebastian Dahm.
While the NHL may have withdrawn its participation at this Olympics, that doesn’t mean that Denmark’s roster isn’t full of familiar faces.
The most notable NHL alumnus is Frans Nielsen, veteran of nearly 1,000 career games with the New York Islanders and Detroit Red Wings before jumping to Germany to play for the Berlin Polar Bears of the DEL this summer.
Nielsen is joined up front by fellow former NHL forward Mikkel Boedker, he of 709 career games, who most recently played for the Ottawa Senators in 2019-20. Boedker spent the majority of his big-league career with the Arizona Coyotes, logging eight seasons with the franchise before heading to the San Jose Sharks in 2014-15.
Rounding out the squad’s NHL contingent is forward Nicklas Jensen, who played parts of three seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, and Chicago Blackhawks legend Peter Regin.
With the playing field as even as it’s ever been this year, gold medal glory could be had by anyone.
