Dave Joerger is joining Doc Rivers’ bench: What does that mean for the 76ers?


About a year ago, when the idea of him coaching the Sixers didn’t exist, Doc Rivers was asked if there was an NBA coach whose X’s and O’s acumen perhaps went under the radar.

His answer was Dave Joerger.

“The first time we were about to play Memphis, and I’m terrible with names at times, Dave comes over and says hey and introduces himself,” Rivers said on The Woj Pod. “And I go back to the bench and am asking my coaches, ‘What’s that guy’s name? I can’t remember his name.’ But every night, every time we played them — it’s funny, we swept Sacramento last year and no one wanted to play Sacramento last year — he runs great stuff. He really does, quirky, which makes him even better in some ways.”
