The Washington Commanders might be without Dante Fowler in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. The linebacker is one of many on the injured list for Week 12’s matchup at home. The timing couldn’t be more horrible. Washington is trying to bounce back from a two-game losing streak that began with Week 10’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles a few days later on “Thursday Night Football.” Getting back in the win column is pivotal for the team who is No.2 in the NFC East at 7-4.
Dante Fowler: Severity Of Injury Unknown
Fowler, who leads the team in sacks (8.5), appeared on Thursday’s injury list according to Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper. However, Fowler still appears as a starter on the Commanders’ Depth Chart. Alper reported Thursday that Fowler suffers from a hip injury, and the team is waiting to see how he performs the rest of this week. There’s no word yet on the severity of the injury.
The news comes at a time when Fowler playing some of his best football for the Commanders. Fowler’s 8.5 sacks is fourth-most in the NFL this season. There are a few games left, and he could surpass the 11.5 sacks he recorded with the Los Angeles Rams five years ago.
Final Thoughts: Don’t Panic…Yet
I’m hoping this report is nothing more than a hot take because I want Fowler to play. I need Dante Fowler to play. For starters, it’s the Cowboys. This is where he and now head coach Dan Quinn come from. Fowler spent his last two seasons there before following current Commanders head coach Dan Quinn to the Commanders, so I’m sure there’s a little hostility that needs to be addressed.
It’s always great TV when you see a coach face his old team because there’s only one question to answer: Was Quinn right for leaving? With the Cowboys, they’re going to work overtime. Their starting quarterback, Dak Prescott, is on the sidelines. While I hope his health is ok, I will take great pleasure in him watching “Dem Boys” lose another one in Northwest Stadium.
