Danica McKellar Reflects on Two Years of Faith: Christ ‘Changed My Life’

Great American Family actress Danica McKellar celebrated two years of becoming a Christian during Easter Week, saying in an interview it changed her life and gave her a sense of peace she had never experienced.

The actress and author credits fellow Great American Family actress Candace Cameron Bure for her new faith. Bure invited her to church.

“Easter week for me, this year [marked] two years of becoming a believer,” McKellar told Fox News Digital. “That’s when Candace Cameron Bure brought me into her church on Palm Sunday, and we saw the passion play there at Shepherd Church.”

McKellar became a well-known face as a youngster for her role in The Wonder Years and in recent years has become a staple in family-friendly romantic comedies, including A Royal Date for Christmas and Swing Into Romance, both on Great American Family platforms. A UCLA graduate with a degree in mathematics, she also has authored kid-friendly math books

“It changed my life,” McKellar said of her new-found faith in Christ and her church. “I don’t know what happened. Some people say the Holy Spirit came to me. All I know is that I knew I became a believer, and it was the most wonderful, transformative moment. I was flooded with this knowingness, and I have such peace from that still after two years, and I’m so grateful for it.

“And I feel that,” she added. “My wish for the world is that they would feel that as well and be open to God’s love because it’s transformative, and it’s there for everyone.”

She wrote on Instagram on Easter, “May the peace of the Lord be with you and in your hearts today and always.”

McKellar read through the Bible her first year as a Christian and plans on reading through it again, she said. On Instagram, she touted Tara Leigh Cobble’s Bible Recap as a guide. She recently met Cobble and posted a photo of the two of them, along with McKellar’s sister, Crystal.

“Every day for over a year now, I’ve listened to this incredible woman’s voice, guiding me through my Bible Journey,” McKellar said. “… For anybody looking to deepen (or start!) a journey through the Bible, I can’t recommend @thebiblerecap highly enough as a beautiful & clarifying guide.”
