Cross-Country Pick 5 Features Racing From Saratoga, Monmouth, And Woodbine

The New York Racing Association will host a Cross Country Pick 5 on Sunday featuring racing action from Saratoga Race Course, Monmouth Park in Oceanport, New Jersey and Woodbine Racetrack in Etobicoke, Ontario.

Saratoga Race Course will kick off the sequence with a 5 ½-furlong maiden claiming event for 2-year-old fillies over the Mellon turf course in Race 7. Trainer Linda Rice will send out Calumet Farms’ Bow Maker and Winning Move’s Stable Lolita Express, both of whom are making their career debut. The race has a scheduled post time of 4:14 p.m.

Action shifts to the Jersey shore for the following two legs of the sequence. In the second leg, a field of 13 state-bred geldings will go into line for a six-furlong allowance event at Monmouth Park. Two 9-year-olds will seek a return to the winner’s circle when Papadopalous attempts a ninth career win for trainer Gregory Sacco. Placed in his last three starts, R Jolley Dreamer will go for his 10th career win. Carded as Race 9, the race will go off at 4:25 p.m.

The middle leg of the Cross Country Pick 5 is the $75,000 New Jersey Breeders Handicap, carded as Race 10 with a 4:53 p.m. post time. Featured in the event is G.J. Stable’s Prendimi, who attempts his second stakes win this year. Three starts back the Luis Carvajal, Jr. trainee won the John J. Reilly at Monmouth. Trainer John Servis will saddle Dial Operator, who has won four of his six career starts and will go for his first victory in a stakes race.

A field of seven will assemble for the penultimate leg of the sequence, which is a 1 1/8-mile first level allowance over the Saratoga main track, in Race 9 at 5:50 p.m. Stronach Stables’ homebred Meet Me in L.A. returns to action off of a maiden victory at third asking over the Belmont Park main track in June. He will face off against Whisper Hill Farm’s well-bred Tapit Wise, who seeks his first victory since breaking his maiden at Fair Grounds in March.

Woodbine Racetrack concludes the sequence with an open company allowance event over the all weather surface. Carded as the tenth and final race on Woodbine’s Sunday afternoon card with a 5:59 p.m. post time, the race features recent maiden winner Roaring Forties, who broke his maiden at third asking going seven furlongs and will stretch out in distance for trainer Daniel Vella.

The minimum bet for the multi-track, multi-race wager is 50 cents. Wagering on the Cross Country Pick 5 is also available on track, on ADW platforms, and at simulcast facilities across the country. There will be a mandatory payout of the entire pool.
