Cowboys positional review: How does Dallas fix linebacker?


With NFL free agency quickly approaching, we’re breaking down the Cowboys roster to see where it has depth and where it will need to find help in the near future.

This is the second installment of a nine-part series split up among position groups.

Defensive line was covered last week.

We are now moving to linebacker.

How the linebackers performed in 2020:

Entering the season, linebacker looked like it would be one of Dallas’ deepest positions. Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch were returning as the top two linebackers, both expecting to see the majority of the snaps. The biggest adjustment under new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan was that Smith would be moving from middle linebacker to weakside while Vander Esch went from weakside to middle.
