Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence fractures foot in practice Wednesday: Sources

Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence sustained a fractured foot during Wednesday’s practice, according to sources. Lawrence was listed as limited on the practice report, but his availability in the near future will be a question mark.

WFAA-TV in Dallas first reported the story.

Lawrence, 29, picked up five total tackles and one forced fumble during Dallas’ Week 1 loss to Tampa Bay. The eighth-year edge rusher has 45 1/2 career sacks and two Pro Bowl nods during his career.

Filling in the void left by Lawrence could be a challenge for Dallas as it will face the Chargers in Los Angeles on Sunday. The Cowboys list Tarell Basham as Lawrence’s backup. Starting edge rusher Randy Gregory landed on the COVID-19 reserve list, meaning his availability for the Chargers game is also in jeopardy.

More to come on this developing story.
