Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson has taken the next step in his journey back to the gridiron.
The move gives the rookie out of Alabama a chance to make his NFL debut in Week 5 when the Commanders host the Tennessee Titans at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Washington will play against the Chicago Bears on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 6 at 8:15 p.m. ET on Oct. 13.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the team will “evaluate” Robinson and activate him sometime in the next 21 days. Washington enters Week 5 in last place in the NFC East at 1-3.
The Commanders currently rank 21st in the NFL in rushing yards per game (100.5). Antonio Gibson leads Washington in rushing attempts (53), rushing yards (173) and has the team’s only two rushing scores of the year.
Robinson was shot multiple times in the glute and leg during an attempted robbery on Aug. 29 in Washington, D.C. He was released from the hospital the next day, however, and has made steady progress in his recovery.
