Clippers' new Inglewood arena officially named the Intuit Dome

The Los Angeles Clippers officially have a new name for their Inglewood arena, the Intuit Dome.

The name reveal came with an announcement that the Clippers and Intuit Inc. have entered into a “23-year strategic partnership.”

Intuit is the parent company of TurboTax, QuickBooks, Credit Karma and more. The Clippers believe the new arena will “deliver an innovative fan and consumer experience, and it will become a hub for programs that power economic prosperity and benefit the community.”

Sports Business Journal shared several photos of what fans can expect the arena to look like.

The arena was designed to create an intimate and intense fan experience and will include:

  • The Wall: 51 rows of uninterrupted seats
  • A two-sided halo scoreboard with an acre of LED lighting
  • An 80,000 square foot outdoor plaza surrounding a full-size outdoor court

In an interview with ESPN, Clippers owner Steve Ballmer said that he spent years going to different stadiums and arenas around the United States for inspiration for the Intuit Dome.

“There’s 30 teams in the league. There’s 29 others. And we got one that happens to be based in L.A. And we got our fans. We use our expression, ‘LA Our Way.’ And we’re building our own presence, identity,” Ballmer said. “And if the other guys feel a little threatened — the other guys’ fans, I mean; the players are actually a little different deal — but if they feel a little threatened, that’s OK. It means we’re doing good.”

The Clippers are coming off a historic season in which they reached the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history. The team came just shy of reaching the NBA Finals due to injuries and an intense playoff schedule.

The Intuit Dome is slated to open by the 2024-25 season. The Clippers will no longer be in the Los Angeles Lakers’ shadow at the Staples Center. The new arena symbolizes a growing fan base, a new era and changing community.
