Cisco’s Andy Stewart: CMMC Seeks to Drive Broader Change Across DIB to Ensure Tech, Data Security

Andy Stewart Senior Federal Strategist Cisco

Andy Stewart, a senior federal strategist at Cisco, wrote about the Department of Defense’s Cybersecurity Maturity Level Certification framework and how it helps deliver trust throughout the entire supply chain and drive change across the defense industrial base to protect the government’s data and technology used to support military operations.

CMMC “extends trust down to the device and software,” Stewart wrote in a guest piece published Thursday on FedScoop. “And it gives organizations the means to verify that their products are free of counterfeit parts or that the software running on them hasn’t been corrupted.”

Stewart discussed how a platform-based security approach could enable organizations to implement the required security processes and provide them greater visibility into their processes.

“This approach embeds tools into the enterprise network, at scale, and are designed to work together to support the streamlined implementation of CMMC capabilities and processes,” he added.

Stewart also called on organizations looking to meet CMMC requirements to find tech partners that could help them ensure compliance, gain greater visibility into the supply chain and provide them access to threat information.
