Patrons waited in line in September of 2018 to enter the newly-opened Derby City Gaming
This Tuesday, the Daily Racing Form reported that the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission approved Churchill Downs’ proposals to install an additional 5,500 historical racing terminals.
At Churchill’s newly-purchased Turfway Park, the commission approved the installation of up to 2,500 new machines, while the other 3,000 will be split between the company’s Louisville-based Derby City Gaming and Churchill Downs itself.
No concrete plans have been announced for either project, but CEO Bill Carstanjen revealed earlier this year that a hotel and casino area at Churchill Downs is in the works for the future.
