Christian Group Puts on Live Nativity Outside of the Supreme Court Building

On Wednesday in Washington, D.C., a live nativity was seen traveling around the Supreme Court building and the U.S. Capitol Building.

The live display was put on by an organization called Faith & Liberty and was a testament to Christianity and the Gospel story.

The live nativity began at 11 am on East Plaza and ended in between the Capitol Building and the Supreme Court building. The nativity included Mary, Joseph, shepherds, three wise men, and a baby Jesus.

The live nativity is an annual display put on by Faith & Liberty and this year was the nativity’s 12th year. In addition to standing between the two buildings, the actors sang, prayed, and read the Christmas Story from the Gospel of Matthew.

According to a video about the event on Faith & Liberty’s YouTube channel, the live nativity has been a witnessing tool for over a decade.

According to CBN News, the live nativity is “a reminder to Christians across the country they have every legal right to put on such scenes outside their local government facilities. All they usually need is a permit.”

Faith & Liberty is an outreach ministry to federal government officials that is just 10 minutes away from the White House.

According to their “about” page, they are “an evangelistic ministry, taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nation’s top elected and appointed officials.” And their mission statement is “To bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of those that make public policy in America.” They say they accomplish this by praying, preaching, and providing pastoral care.

Faith & Liberty says their primary aim is to reach out to Judicial Branch officials first, but they also aim secondly to reach out to members of the Executive Branch. After these two, they reach out to members of Congress.
