Chris Paul’s return to form can make the Suns the Western Conference favorites


PHOENIX — Chris Paul, sensing the significance of the moment, caught the swing pass from Cam Johnson and paused.

Amid a rollicking 42-14 second-half run from the Suns, with Phoenix pushing in transition and launching a bevy of 3-pointers, Paul remained as calm as ever, surgically examining the holes in Denver’s defense.

Within a half-second of catching the ball, the 36-year-old future Hall of Famer read Facundo Campazzo’s positioning. Paul subtly faked as if he were going to drive twice, testing Campazzo’s reaction, and then darted past him toward the rim, muscling in an and-1 runner, his seventh straight point.
