Chiefs-Bucs Super Bowl: Players to watch, important storylines and a prediction


It was just two years ago that Tom Brady ventured through the cramped hallways below Arrowhead Stadium and into the Chiefs’ locker room, looking specifically for Patrick Mahomes.

Brady’s Patriots had just beaten Mahomes and the Chiefs in the AFC championship game; Brady was heading to his ninth Super Bowl and Mahomes, on the verge of winning his first NFL MVP award, was devastated.

Brady’s message was one of encouragement, and it came with a prediction: Mahomes, if he continued on the path he began forging in 2018, would find himself in many more of these momentous games.

No one could have predicted then that those two quarterbacks would ever meet in the most important game. But the 2020 season has led us to Brady vs. Mahomes in Super Bowl LV, a matchup between the greatest quarterback ever, in his 10th Super Bowl and his first representing the NFC, and the new face of the NFL and its greatest young quarterback.
