MONDAY – ONE DAY TO GO UNTIL THE CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL
The calm before the almightiest of storms.
Good morning and welcome along to SunSport’s live coverage as we build-up to the 2021 Cheltenham Festival getting underway tomorrow.
Although there are changes this year with the pandemic, it remains engraved in the calendar as sport’s greatest show on turf.
We won’t shy away from it. Racing has had a terrible, terrible few weeks.
Gordon Elliott and Rob James’ suspensions have brought the biggest cloud imaginable over the sport.
Thankfully, Cheltenham is here to highlight how GREAT a sport, an industry and it’s people can be.
The gallops have been busy this morning as some of this week’s superstars stretch their legs and continue their final preparations.
Fingers crossed as always that they all come through it completely unscathed.
Unfortunately, the festival cannot be packed as it usual is due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
It will be massively disappointing not to have the tens of thousands of punters each of the four days – but the show must go on.
Another change sees the start times adjusted.
If you tune in at 1:30pm tomorrow to see if Willie Mullins’ Appreciate It has romped home in the Supreme, you will be left with only the post-race reaction. The days kick-off at 1:20pm this year.
Plenty to talk about today then as we build-up to what promises to be yet another enthralling and unmissable week.
