Chelsea transfer news: Hasenhuttl says talks are underway to extend Armando Broja’s stay at Southampton

Ralph Hasenhuttl has revealed that Armando Broja’s family want him to stay at Southampton beyond the end of this season.

The 20-year-old striker joined the St Mary’s side on loan from Chelsea for the 2021-22 campaign in the summer and has quickly become one of the club’s most important players.

And Hasenhuttl expects talks between Southampton and Chelsea to continue in order to find the best solution for Broja.

The Austrian said: “Martin Semmens is in close contact with Marina Granovskaia and they will definitely find the right words and the right conversations.

“Everyone has their interests, this is normal in this business, but we must find a decision that is best for everybody.

“He is still a very young lad who is still learning and we have to be careful not to overwhelm him with expectations or other things.

“I know that his family is very, very keen that he is with us and they have absolutely confirmed that he should stay longer with us.

“Then it’s also about Chelsea and what they want. There are a lot of talks to be had. But Martin is on this, and Broja should concentrate on this game.”
