Chelsea team news: N’Golo Kante and Reece James to miss Juventus game

N’Golo Kante will miss Chelsea’s game against Juventus after testing positive for COVID-19.

Thomas Tuchel will also be without Reece James, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic for Wednesday night’s game.

Speaking ahead of that match, the Chelsea manager said: “Christian, Reece and Mason are out due to injury. N’Golo unfortunately tested positive and he needs to quarantine and follow the government protocols.

“He was not in training today and, of course, not in the group.”

James is also likely to miss this weekend’s game against Southampton after Tuchel said he would be out for a further week.

Asked how long James would be on the sidelines for, Tuchel said: “Reece’s injury? He’s still very painful.

“It will come down to pain management in the end, how much he can accept.

“But right now we are looking at a minimum of one more week.”

Chelsea won their first Champions League group stage game against Zenit Saint-Petersburg. They are hoping to retain the trophy they won last season but will face a stern test from Juventus in Turin.
