The 19-year-old was substituted with ten minutes to go and it is unlikely he will play any further part in the Blues’ season.

Lampard’s side have four league games remaining as they look to cement Champions League football for the 2020-2021 campaign.

But they also have an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United and the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie with Bayern Munich, which will take place in August.

The report claims Gilmour is expected to be out for at least the next four to five games and would face a battle to be fit to face the German champions.

The youngster has had an impressive season after making his Premier League debut against Sheffield United in August.

The Glaswegian also produced a man of the match performance in the Blues FA Cup victory over Liverpool in March.

Gilmour’s injury provides Lampard with another headache after N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic were ruled out of the trip to Selhurst Park.

Jorginho replaced the Scot for the remaining minutes and helped see out a crucial 3-2 victory.

The Italian is yet to start a game since the return of football last month but may be in-line for a recall with Chelsea’s growing injury list.
